Cody O’Connell did not win the Outland Trophy on Thursday night, but the Washington State left guard picked up two more All-American First Team honors.
O’Connell, a 6-foot-8, 354-pound junior from Wenatchee, was named a first team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and USA Today.
He’s now been named a first team All-American by five different news outlets (Pro Football Focus, SB Nation, Sporting News) and stands a good chance at becoming a consensus All-American.
To be considered a consensus All-American, a player has to be named a first team All-American by at least three of these five organizations: the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association, the Sporting News, the Football Writers Association of America and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
