WSU Women Have Solid Performances at NCAA Champs

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Washington State women competitors had solid performances Thursday at the NCAA DI Track & Field Championships at Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Sophomore Alissa Brooks-Johnson (Doty, Wash.) finished 18th in the women’s heptathlon with a score of 5,572 points after starting the day in 22nd-place. Brooks-Johnson, the 2015 Pac-12 heptathlon champion, long jumped 17-feet 6 1/4 inches (5.34m) although struggling after a jarring landing, and then threw the javelin 135-9 (41.39m). She won her section of the 800m run with a lifetime-best time of 2 minutes 12.60 seconds, the fastest time of the 22 remaining competitors.
