Washington State guard Lia Galdeira will forego her final season of eligibility and pursue professional opportunities in Europe. Galdeira signed a contract with sports agent Elmirea Draskicevic and will begin her professional career this fall.
She’s not the first to turn pro early. Storm rookie Jewell Loyd skipped her senior season at Notre Dame to declare for the WNBA draft. Loyd turns 22 in October, making her eligible. Seattle selected her with the No. 1 overall pick.
“I’d like to thank Washington State University for allowing me to be a part of the Cougar family, it has been an honor to represent the women’s basketball program,” Galdeira said in a released statement.
