PULLMAN, Wash. – Maria Kostourkova, incoming freshman on the Washington State women’s basketball team, will be competing in the upcoming 2015 FIBA U18 European Championship, July 30-Aug. 9, in Celje, Slovenia.
Kostourkova, a 6-foot 4-inch center, will compete for Portugal in the Division A championship. The Portuguese will face Poland, Russia, and Spain in group play, before advancing to the knockout stage of the competition.
Kostourkova recently competed in the U20 European Championship earlier this summer. While limited to 20 minutes per game, Kostourkova averaged 9.3 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game, to lead the team to a sixth-place finish.
