John Johnson has been tabbed by Washington State University to be interim athletic director, the school announced Monday, a day after previous athletic director Bill Moos left for the same job with Nebraska.
Johnson, who is currently WSU’s senior associate director of athletics, will assume the role Wednesday until a permanent replacement is named.
Mike Leach has no plans to follow Moos to Nebraska
“John is an outstanding administrator and a fierce advocate for the Washington State University athletics program,” WSU President Kirk Schulz said in a press release. “I couldn’t ask for a better-qualified individual to make sure that Cougar athletics continues to excel as we search for WSU’s next athletic director.
