The Washington State Cougars landed their first commitment of the 2022 class when Nigerian big man Solomon Ominu committed to the program.
Ominu, listed at 6-foot-10 and 230 pounds, is not yet rated by 247Sports. He also held offers from Memphis and Oklahoma.
His commitment continues a trend of the Cougars aggressively recruiting internationally, and he becomes the third player from Africa to commit to Kyle Smith in his three seasons as coach. Assistant coach John Andrzejek is the point man on Ominu’s recruitment, and the Cougs’ history with Nigerians — which includes current sophomore sensation Efe Abogidi — wasn’t lost on Ominu.
