Washington State baseball coach Donnie Marbut, who had a 314-304 record and led the Cougars to two postseason appearances, was fired Tuesday, the school announced. Here is the school’s statement:
PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University Director of Athletics Bill Moos announced Tuesday that baseball coach Donnie Marbut will not return to guide the Cougars next season.
“Though Donnie and his staff have worked hard over the past 11 years it is my feeling that a change in leadership at this time was necessary to get Cougar baseball back to a position of prominence,” said Moos.
