The Cougars had 10 penalties in the season opening loss to EWU. Seven of the 10 came on offense
It’s tough to win a football game when you’re getting knocked backward by penalties at every juncture, and that’s exactly what happened to Washington State Saturday night.
The Cougs had 12 penalties for a loss of 101 yards in their 45-42 season opening defeat to Eastern Washington. Much to head coach Mike Leach’s displeasure, many of these penalties came at critical moments and ultimately derailed positive drives.
