Talk to Bill Moos, Mike Leach, Ernie Kent, June Daugherty or anyone in the Washington State athletic department about late WSU President Dr. Elson Floyd, and the first thing you hear is how much of a visionary he was and how instrumental he was in helping modernize the WSU athletic landscape and the school in general.
Floyd died on June 20 after a battle with colon cancer, and on Wednesday, the WSU community gathered for his memorial.
The Spokesman-Review’s Chad Sokol was at the Beasley Coliseum to take in the scene. Students called Floyd “the students’ president.
