EL PASO, Texas — By the middle of the third quarter, the snow was coming down so hard at Sun Bowl Stadium that the Sun Bowl logo at the 50-yard line had faded to reveal the UTEP Miners’ logo underneath.
For the first time since the 1987 game between Oklahoma and West Virginia, it snowed during the Sun Bowl.
The snow started in the second quarter, and by the end of Washington State’s 20-14 win over Miami on Saturday, the field was a blanket of white.
“I thought we were playing in the Sun Bowl, but it ended up being the snow bowl,” WSU quarterback Luke Falk said.
