Washington State women’s basketball team beats Nevada in Hawaii

HONOLULU – The Washington State women’s team continued its solid start to the season with a 70-57 victory over Nevada in the opening game of the Rainbow Wahine Classic at Stan Sheriff Center on Friday afternoon.

Freshman Borislava Hristova extended an impressive start to her career for the Cougars (3-0), leading all scorers with 23 points. WSU forced a season-high 26 turnovers by the Wolf Pack (0-3), outscoring Nevada 21-1 off turnovers.

Hristova also pulled in a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Dawnyelle Awa led the team with four assists and three steals. The Cougars jumped out to a 10-0 start and never conceded the lead/

“I’m really pleased with the way we came out and played as hard as we did for 40 minutes,” WSU coach June Daugherty said.
