Washington State women lose 73-71 at Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – Danielle Rodriguez made a go-ahead layup with 38 seconds left to help Utah beat Washington State 73-71 on Saturday night for the Utes’ eighth straight victory at home.

Tanaeya Boclair of the Utes made one of two free throws with 14 seconds left to close out scoring.

With three seconds left, Borislava Hristova of the Cougars shot a three-pointer from the left corner that caught the front of the rim before falling out. Sophomore Louise Brown rebounded the ball, but was unable to put a shot up before time expired.

“I thought we got a great look at the end,” WSU coach June Daugherty said.
