Washington State senior linebacker Peyton Pelluer has been named Pac-12 defensive player of the week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Pelluer, a 6-0, 225-pound senior from Sammamish, had a team-high 14 tackles in the Cougars’ 47-44 triple overtime win over Boise State last Saturday at Martin Stadium.
Pelluer also scored his second-ever defensive touchdown when he intercepted a Montell Cozart shovel pass late in the fourth quarter and returned it 36 yards for a score that cut Boise State’s lead to seven and kept the Cougars in the game.
“I thought he was really aggressive the whole day,” WSU football coach Mike Leach said of Pelluer.
