PULLMAN – June Daugherty has been at the helm of the Washington State women’s basketball program since 2007, but the longtime coach won’t oversee the Cougars for a 12th season.
Daugherty won’t return as WSU’s head coach for the 2018-19 season, WSU Director of Athletics Pat Chun announced Tuesday, and the school will begin an immediate national search to replace Daugherty per a university press release.
On Jan. 24, WSU announced Daugherty would be taking an indefinite leave of absence as she was recovering from a medical procedure and she didn’t return to the Cougars’ bench for the remainder of the season, handing over head coaching duties to her husband, and associate head coach, Mike Daugherty.
