WSU missed out on another defensive tackle today when Wayne Kirby of Pocatello, Idaho, picked Oregon over the Cougars and Utah.
A composite three-star player, the 6-foot-3/290-pound interior defensive lineman would have been a huge addition to the 2016 class, both literally and figuratively as an athletic, space-eating, run-stuffing lineman to anchor the defensive front.
Currently, the only linemen signed in this class project to either defensive end or Rush linebacker. The defensive line depth was further damaged when it was revealed recently that 2015 signee Thomas Toki, a four-star recruit, was headed to a junior college to get his academics in order.
