HONOLULU (January 5, 2023) – Eva Alvarez Sande, Elyse Tse and Yang Lee each captured singles victories to highlight Washington State's first day of play at the 2023 Weinman Foundation Invitational Thursday, played at the University of Hawaii Tennis Courts.
In Thursday's hidden dual format, the Cougars faced No. 12 California and Hawaii in both singles and doubles matches. WSU picked up three straight-set singles wins to begin its 2023 spring schedule as freshman Alvarez Sande posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Hawaii's Madison Kim. Tse, a sophomore from New Zealand, had little trouble with Hawaii's Klara Novakova while the senior Lee defeated Rita Pinto from Hawaii, 6-4, 6-1.
