The Seattle Times editorial board’s annual school-supply drive partners with YWCA Seattle King Snohomish to provide low-income and homeless children with backpacks.
EVERY day, nonprofits like YWCA Seattle King Snohomish serve thousands of children experiencing some level of trauma outside the classroom. When school starts every fall, its staff knows well how much these youngest clients want to look and feel just like any other kid.
For many, being able to go to school with a new backpack filled with supplies is all they need to stay on track.
The YWCA reports so far about 1,800 students have signed up for such assistance.
