NAPA, Calif. – In the final round of play at the Silverado Showdown, Tuesday, the Washington State women’s golf team carded a 298 (+10) and finished ninth in the 15-team field. The score was the lowest of the tournament for the Cougars, who finished 12 strokes back from No. 34 California (+37, 901) and seven strokes ahead of Long Beach State (+56, 920). Tournament co-host Oregon won the tournament with a three-round 889 (+25).
WSU senior Kristen Rue finished 2-under (70) in the third round to lead the Cougars. Rue carded six birdies in the final round, including five in her final seven holes, to finish the tournament 11-over (227).
