Rowing wins Fawley Cup for the 28th time with a victory over Gonzaga

MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. – The Washington State women's rowing team retained the Fawley Cup against Gonzaga Wednesday, April 12, as the Cougars won the trophy for the 28th time in program history to highlight the midweek regatta on Silver Lake.

WSU's first varsity 8+ crew won the head-to-head 2,000-meter race against Gonzaga's 1V8+ boat to hold onto the Fawley Cup. Washington State won a tightly contested race against the Bulldogs, as WSU clocked in at 6:36.26, finishing 1.63 seconds ahead of GU. The Cougars' victory on Silver Lake on Wednesday marks the 28th in the 31-year history of the Fawley Cup that WSU has won the trophy.
