DEXTER LAKE, Ore. – The Washington State rowing team captured first place in both the First Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 races on Saturday, March 20, as the Cougars collected their first regatta victory of the 2021 spring season, besting Oregon State at Dexter Lake.
With the win over the Beavers, the Cougars bring the Jody Winchell Cup back to Pullman with them. The Winchell Cup is giving annually to the overall winner of dual regatta between WSU and OSU and is named after Washington State novice rowing coach Jody Winchell.
"We have a lot of respect for Oregon State, it's our longest-standing dual meeting and we always look forward to seeing them every year," said Washington State head coach Jane LaRiviere.
