The Washington State Cougars got back to their winning ways on Monday, beating the Cal Poly Mustangs 84-70 in a most familiar fashion: By sharing the ball to take — and make — a bunch of threes.
The Cougs hit 9-of-17 threes in the first half on their way to a 54-27 lead at the break, as they also made 10 of their 16 twos to capitalize on their numerous transition opportunities, thanks to Cal Poly’s 11 first-half turnovers. They only scored nine fast break points, but a bunch of other points came on the secondary break as the Cougs found shooters.
