PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State tallied 29 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Utah Valley at Bailey-Brayton Field Saturday, taking the opener 10-0 and the second game 9-2.
The Cougars improved to 9-4 overall with their sixth straight victory as the bats came alive to back some outstanding pitching efforts to record the longest winning streak since 2014. Junior third baseman Shane Matheny led the way with a combined six hits on the day including a 4-for-4 performance in game two while sophomore shortstop Andres Alvarez tallied five hits in the two games.
