No drama, no trauma as Mariners beat Rockies, 10-4

DENVER — This time, there would be no drama. This time, there would be no anxiety-filled moments. The tying run wasn’t on base and the winning run wasn’t at the plate.

Of course, having a six-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth can help. Fernando Rodney worked an uneventful 1-2-3 inning to close out a 10-4 win over the Rockies on Tuesday night.

It was the Mariners third straight win. And in best summing up the failures of the season, it’s instructive to point out that it was the first time they’ve won three games in a row since a sweep of the Rays in Tampa on May 25-27.
