A King County jury has decided that Christopher Monfort should be sentenced to life in prison for killing Seattle police Officer Timothy Brenton on Halloween night 2009.
After deliberating for only about one hour, the jurors returned the verdict Thursday afternoon in a crowded Seattle courtroom. Members of Brenton’s family and Monfort’s mother were seated in the courtroom when the verdict was read.
Many had speculated the quick verdict signaled jurors had voted fo death.
In May, a split King County jury spared the life of Joseph McEnroe, who killed six members of his ex-girlfriend’s family on Christmas Eve 2007.
