PULLMAN, Wash. – Fifth-year senior captured a straight-set win at No. 1 but it was not enough as Washington State fell 6-1 to No. 17 Stanford Sunday morning at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
Playing against the nation's 14th-ranked player in Stanford's Connie Ma, Bayerlova never trailed as she won for the eighth time in her last nine matches and improved to 6-1 in Pac-12 play. In the No 1 singles match, Bayerlova broke Ma to start the day and steamrolled from there. The Cougar senior raced to a 5-1 lead in the first before closing the set out 6-2.
