Washington State Sophomore Malachi Flynn was invited to tryout for USA Basketball's U19 Junior National Team. Cougar basketball head coach Ernie Kent announced the news on Monday. The Tacoma native will tryout for the team during a training camp June 18-20.
Flynn is the first Cougar to earn a tryout since Klay Thompson and DeAngelo Casto were invited in 2009. Both Thompson and Casto were selected to the team and went on to win gold during the FIBA World Championships that year.
A committee will announce finalists for this year's roster and those that are selected will begin training the 21st of June.
