Klay Thompson Headed to Rio Olympics

PULLMAN, Wash. – Former Washington State University men’s basketball standout, Klay Thompson, has been chosen for the 12-man 2016 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team, USA Basketball announced Monday.

The 11th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors and a current Warrior, Thompson (2009-11) is the first former WSU student-athlete to compete on the U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team. Aron Baynes (2006-09) competed for Australia in the 2012 Olympics, while he and Brock Motum (2010-13) are currently on the 26-man Boomers’ (Australian men’s national team) roster, which will be cut down to 12 prior to the Olympics
