PULLMAN, Wash. -- Recently graduated Washington State University track and field competitor Jesse Jorgensen ran the second-fastest Cougar men’s 800m time in history of 1 minute 45.76 seconds at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships last week at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Jorgensen (Puyallup, Wash.), the 2015 Pac-12 champion in the 800m, ran a Thursday prelim time of 1:48.18 which was fourth in his heat but the third-best of the next four qualifying times. In the Friday semifinals, Jorgensen ran a lifetime-best and near school record time of 1:45.76 which was fifth-best in his heat and sixth-fastest overall but did not qualify for the final.
