The holiday season brings with it a sort of obligation for hope. I say sort of because like everyone, I’ve had a complicated history with hope. After all hope sometimes is for naught.
For instance, after a spring scrimmage in 2008, I gave a quote to a radio show that I was excited about our run game. We had a half dozen run plays go for 15+ yards in the scrimmage and I was sure that we were ready to run the ball for TDs that fall. “Be ready for an explosive run game!” I said exuberantly, or something to that effect.
