Soccer is a funny sport. Sometimes, a team can be playing well and not generate results. Other times, a team can be trending the wrong direction, yet still racking up wins. On their way to a 10-0-0 start, the Washington State Cougars were neither of those — playing well while securing win after win — but on Thursday, the vagaries of the sport caught up with them as they suffered their first loss of the season, 3-1 at No. 20 Colorado.
After falling behind 2-0 by the 12th minute following some uncharacteristically loose defending, the Cougars put the Buffaloes under maximum pressure, firing off 25 shots.
