With two outs in the top of the ninth inning of a 3-2 game, Washington State (6-17) had the game-tying runner on third when Dillon Plew grounded out to short to end the game and the Cougars come back fell short as they dropped their non-conference game to Loyola Marymount on Monday afternoon.
Loyola (15-8) broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with a two-out RBI and then extended their lead once again in the seventh with another two-out RBI.
Heading into the final inning, the Cougars needed two runs to hopefully extend the game. Anthony Notaro started things off with a single to left and Danny Sinatro followed that with a single himself.
