Hartman’s Big Day Paces Cougs Past Iowa in Texas

collected four hits and drove in four runs for Washington State in a 12-7 victory over Iowa at La Moderna Field in Texas Thursday afternnon.

Five Cougars scored multiple runs, stole three bases and six pitchers combined to strike out 10 Iowa hitters in the first of a four game series. Hartman reached base in all five plate appearances, doubled, walked, stole a base and scored two runs. WSU starter worked into the fourth inning and struck out a career-high six and earned the win in relief with 1.1 scoreless frames.

The Cougars built a 6-0 lead with two runs in the first, three in the second and one more in the third before pulling away with a five-run sixth inning.
