The Zags beat Rutgers 57-40 in Vancouver, B.C. WSU failed to protect a 14-point lead in the second quarter and lost 65-52 to Cal State Northridge.
VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Gonzaga women’s basketball team defeated Rutgers 57-40 on Friday in the consolation semifinals of the inaugural Vancouver Showcase.
The Zags (5-1) claimed a 36-26 rebounding advantage. They outscored the Scarlet Knights 36-19 in the second half.
“Overall, I’m really proud of our team,” Gonzaga coach Lisa Fortier said. “I think we battled them on the glass; they are such a great rebounding team. I’m happy with the way we finished the game, for sure.
