A King County judge on Friday sentenced Lorenzo Pratt, a 26-year-old gang member, to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting a 20-year-old man in Seattle’s Leschi neighborhood last year.
Pratt, a member of the Deuce 8 gang who goes by the street name “Chosen,” pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing Deszaun Smallwood on April 24, 2014, outside a house in the 500 block of 28th Avenue South, two hours after he lost a fist fight with one of Smallwood’s friends, according to charging documents.
According to court records, Pratt was upset about the fatal shooting of his friend, Kevin Brown, five days earlier, near 22nd Avenue and East Union Street in the Central District.
