For the last five years, every Friday before a Washington State home games, Bill and Vonna Henry have packed Coco the dog into their 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser with the “29NKL” Washington State Cougars license plate, and made the six-hour drive from Vancouver (Wash.) to Pullman to watch their son’s football games.
The Henrys, parents of WSU nickelback Parker Henry, always take the long route up the Columbia Gorge, through wine country and out to vast golden expanse of the Palouse. This week, that drive takes on extra significance as they travel to Pullman on Thanksgiving Day for what will be their son’s final home game at Martin Stadium.
