AUSTIN, Texas -- Four of the eight Washington State track and field athletes who competed Thursday, advanced to quarterfinal competition after their first round events at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
In the women’s 400m hurdles first round, Liz Harper (sophomore, Missoula, Mont.) and Alissa Brooks-Johnson (sophomore, Doty, Wash.) finished as automatic qualifiers in their heats and will run in the Friday evening Quarterfinals. Harper was the first finisher in the second heat in a time of 58.67 seconds, fifth-fastest on the day, and Brooks-Johnson finished third in the same heat with a time of 59.
