The massive pink salmon run of 6.8 million fish has arrived in Puget Sound with very good action from Port Townsend south to Jefferson Head located northwest of Shilshole Bay.
Summer salmon fishing options are peaking right now from the coast clear into Puget Sound, and some are providing stellar fishing opportunities.
The ocean salmon fishery remains very good, and the chinook catch has increased so much at Neah Bay that state Fish and Wildlife has issued an emergency regulation change.
Beginning Sunday, anglers at Neah Bay must release all chinook in the ocean of western Strait of Juan de Fuca (also referred to as Marine Catch Areas 4 and 4B), but fishing will remain open for hatchery coho and pinks.
