Federal agents install video surveillance cameras in Seattle

Federal agents have installed video surveillance cameras in Seattle’s Central District.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) told KIRO-TV they have installed two video cameras on utility poles as part of a crime investigation.

Brian Bennett of the ATF says the investigation is for the Puget Sound Regional Crime Gun Task Force. The cameras belong to the ATF but the investigation also involves Seattle police, the Washington State Patrol and the state Department of Corrections.

Bennett says the video is stored on a hard drive and is not monitored. He says it will be reviewed if there is an incident related to an ongoing crime investigation.
