PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State swim team fell to No. 25 Arizona State Saturday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz., 174-85.
Sophomore Mackenzie Duarte took first place in the 200 breast, edging out Marlies Ross from ASU by just three tenths of a second. Duarte's win the event is her sixth individual win of the season, and her fifth in the 200 breast. The Walnut Creek, Calif. native also took second in the 200 IM and 100 breast.
"Mackenzie had a really strong swim in the 200 breast, winning the event," said head coach Matt Leach.
