Dr. John Olerud to Receive Distinguished Alumnus Award

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The National College Baseball Hall of Fame will honor the post-college baseball achievements of an accomplished Seattle physician in July with the George H.W. Bush Distinguished Alumnus Award.

The Hall of Fame will honor dermatologist Dr. John Olerud at 7 p.m. PST on July 16 at Safeco Field in Seattle.

The dinner and presentation will conclude a day of recognition for Olerud, who will also be honored prior to the Mariners' game against the Houston Astros. That game is also WSU Coug Day at Safeco Field.

Olerud was an All-American catcher at Washington State and led the Cougars to the 1965 College World Series under the tutelage of legendary coach Bobo Brayton, a 2007 National College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee.
