PULLMAN, Wash. – PULLMAN, Wash. – Three first half goals and 90 minutes of fast-paced action kicked off Pac-12 play at Lower Soccer Field as the Cougs (5-2-2) were edged, 2-1, by No. 2 Stanford (8-1-0) Thursday night. The Cardinal became the first team to score on WSU at home as they scored a pair of early goals before answered back with a penalty strike in the 35' to put the Cougs on the board. Down 2-1 at the half, the Cougs had one big chance in the second half to tie the game, but a second awarded penalty kick was stopped by Stanford's Alison Jahansouz, preserving the Cardinal's one-goal advantage.
