LAIE, HAWAII – The Washington State women's basketball team was handed its first loss of the 2022-23 season Friday, Nov. 18, as the Cougars fell to BYU, 65-56, in their first game at the 2022 North Shore Showcase.
Washington State fell victim to a hot-shooting BYU squad that shot a blistering 84.2 percent over the first two quarters of play. Despite that, WSU was still able to keep the game manageable, as the Cougs trailed BYU by 12 points, 36-24, going into the break.
After falling down by a game-high 21 points early in the fourth quarter, Washington State attempted a comeback over the final 9:30 of game time.
