Redshirt-freshman quarterback Peyton Bender opened the Washington State Cougars’ team session Friday in Lewiston, Idaho, with a first-down completion to redshirt-freshman running back Keith Harrington.
Bender followed with another completion to redshirt-sophomore wideout Robert Lewis, who made a move outside and picked up a big block from redshirt-junior Gabe Marks to gain another 10 yards.
Redshirt-senior wideout Daniel Lilienthal then made a diving catch along the right sideline, bringing cheers from the offense.
The defense settled in as redshirt-junior defensive lineman Reggie Coates jumped up to pick off a pass during his rush.
The following play saw freshman linebacker Nnamdi Oguayo get into the backfield and force Bender into an incompletion.
