SAN MARCOS, Texas – Washington State dropped a 10-1 contest to Texas State University in the second game of the season-opening series at Bobcat Ballpark Saturday afternoon. Game three of the series is set for 11 a.m. (PT), Sunday.
Texas State used 13 hits to take the second straight game over the Cougars to start the season. Sophomore Derek Chapman and junior Wes Leow each led WSU with two hits and freshman catcher Ty Johnson picked up his first collegiate hit.
Washington State put two runners on in the second inning as junior Cameron Frost was hit by a pitch and junior Wes Leow lined a single to centerfield but Texas State held off the threat by getting a popout and a strikeout.
