PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State managed just one run on the day as Stanford completed a doubleheader sweep with scores of 9-0 and 3-1 in Pac-12 Conference play Saturday at Bailey-Brayton Field.
The Cougars ended the afternoon with a 28-27 record, 10-19 in Pac-12 play while Stanford moved to 24-31, 9-20 in conference action.
In the opener, Cougar starter Sean Hartnett (3-6) cruised through the first five innings, surrendering just one hit, until the Cardinal put up seven runs in the sixth. An error by shortstop Jack Strunc started the inning then Stanford’s Zach Hoffpauir lined a bases-loaded double to center for the first two runs of the game.
