Box Score PULLMAN, Wash. – Senior Melisa Ates posted a straight-set win in singles to lead Washington State to a 4-0 victory over Gonzaga Tuesday afternoon at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 13-11 while Gonzaga falls to 11-5.
Ates, who prior to the match was recognized as part of Senior Day recognition in advance of her final home match, had little trouble in defeating Jenna Sloan, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. The win was Ates' 194th as a Cougar, combining singles and doubles, tying the all-time mark also held by former Coug Elizaveta Luzina.
