STANFORD, Calif. – Competing against a field that includes five of the nation's top 10 teams, Washington State Women's Golf sits in seventh place after a solid first day at the Stanford Intercollegiate Friday at the par-71, 6,195-yard Stanford Golf Course.
The Cougars opened strong and were two-over-par after the opening nine holes, then held on to finish the round at +7, 291, seventh in the 17-team field. Not only are five teams in the field ranked in the top 10, 12 teams are in the top 50.
"The team played solid today and the players did a great job of sticking to our game plan," said WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura.
