PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State senior Barbora Michalkova captured the biggest victory of her career with a straight-set win over Stanford's 42nd-ranked Emily Arbuthnott but it was not enough as the No. 22 Cardinal posted a 4-2 win over the Cougars Friday at the Simmelink Tennis Courts. Michalkova, playing at No. 4, won 7-5, 6-2 over Arbuthnott, who lost for only the second in dual matches this season. Michalkova was not the only Cougar to register an upset as freshman Michaela Bayerlova continued her dominant season with a three-set win over Stanford's Michaela Gordon, the nation's 15th-ranked player, who also holds a current world ranking of 595.
