AUSTIN, Texas -- Four Washington State track and field athletes punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships with their Friday performances at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Jesse Jorgensen, a redshirt senior from Puyallup, Wash., won his heat of the men’s 800m quarterfinals and earned the right to race at the semifinals in Eugene in two weeks. Jorgensen, a two-time All-American, ran a quarterfinal time of 1 minute 48.07 seconds and is one of four Pac-12 Conference competitors among the 12 spots in the West Region to advance in the 800m.
