SPOKANE, Wash. — Sophomore put his name into the WSU record book by becoming the fastest indoor 400-meter runner in school history while sophomore improved on her school record in the pole vault to highlight Saturday's action at the Riverfront Invitational. On another triumphant day at The Podium for the Cougs, WSU student-athletes won three events and set 14 personal bests.
Buckmiller's time of 46.22 seconds is 0.16 seconds faster than the previous record holder, Jeshua Anderson, which he set in 2010. In a testament to the difficulty in breaking the 400m mark, Anderson held his record for 15 years after breaking Michael Joubert's mark which had stood for 19 years.
